Project: Campbell College School
Client: Belfast Education & Library Board
Programme: July 05 – Oct 07
The original school building, now listed, stands as an impressive example of Victorian architecture and forms the heart of the cluster of school buildings which, in addition to the main building, comprise of 2 classroom blocks, 2 sports halls, a swimming pool, a shooting range and boarding facilities.
This was a large scale refurbishment project in a school environment where AEM Ltd carried out Electrical Installations throughout this listed building.
The Electrical Installation Work was carried out at the Chapel, Changing Block, Prep School, Lecture Theatre and Main Entrance of the school and the installation included:
• Mains and Sub-Mains Distribution and Cabling
• General Power throughout all quoted areas
• Internal and External Lighting
• Lighting Controls
• Control systems
• Specialist Trunking
• Fire Alarm
• Intruder Alarm
• Telephone Cabling
• Door Access Controls
• Perimeter Fence Alarm
• TV/Satellite Installation
• Induction Loop, PA
• Disabled Toilet Facilities
• Interactive White Boards and Lightning Protection.
Working in this occupied school we found that the main complex issue was working around children and understanding the Child Protection Laws and complying with these. All our team went through a rigid re-training schedule to encompass the Child Protection Law and the procedures laid down by the school to ensure that there was no interfacing between the construction team and the pupils.
