Scope
The client required refurbishment work of the church’s interior, which involved repairs to and strengthening of the ceiling, re-vamping of the dais area including relocation of the organ console, rewiring and the installation of emergency lighting and alarms, new pews and gas-fired heating.

AEM Ltd was appointed to provide and install associated Electrical Installation that is associated with modern Implementation within the Church Environment.
The following Electrical Installation works took place as part of this project:

The project consisted of the supply, erection, connection, testing and setting to work of complete electrical works associated with the proposed refurbishment of St Thomas’ Parish Church in accordance with the true intent of this specification and accompanying drawings to the satisfaction of the Employer and Contract Administrator.

The Electrical Installation that is associated with modern Implementation within the Church Environment.
The installation and its fundamental conception ensured that the principles of Energy Conservation within the particular environment had been installed with the future in mind.
The following Installation works were carried out as part of the project:
• Main Switchboard and Sub-Mains
• General Lighting & Emergency Lighting
• General Power
• Fire Alarm/Detection
• Disabled Toilet Alarm system
Complexity
St Thomas’s was designed to impress is one of the grandest and most fully finished examples of High Victorian Gothic ecclesiastical architecture in Belfast which made this project even more unique.
For this ‘Listed’ Building project it was necessary to be able to mould the original building with the new and environmentally sustainable installation.
Working in this listed building it was imperative that our programme was continually monitored and adjusted appropriately with the Master Programme to ensure the delivery of the project within the given timescales and quality standards expected.
Methodology
The Installations and the individual areas/buildings were delivered on time and to budget through a robust programming strategy. Regular meetings were held to ensure that Cost Targets agreed were met and that the progression of works was as per the programme.
A quality installation was guaranteed to the client on this project as we had the opportunity of producing sample boards of Accessories/Fixtures & Fittings for them to decide, with our professional advice, what suited them best within the education environment.
