AEM’S Contribution:

Rathmore Grammar’s new school building was designed by a past-pupil of the school. The new building was completed in time for the school year beginning September 2005. This project included the restoration of the convent, where the following subjects are studied History, Politics and Religious Education.

With the new building, a new C2k computer network was installed, along with interactive whiteboards in every classroom.

This project was also to include new buildings which would consist of general classrooms, a lecture/drama theatre, a library, a staffroom, specialist suites for art, business studies, careers, home economics, information technology and music, a canteen and Sixth Form centre.

Working in this occupied school we found that the main complex issue was working around children and understanding the Child Protection Laws and complying with these. All our team went through a rigid re-training schedule to encompass the Child Protection Law and the procedures lay down by the school to ensure that there was no interfacing between our team and the children.

The Electrical Installation that is associated with modern design Implementation within the Education Environment.

The installation and its fundamental conception ensured that the principles of Energy Conservation within the particular environment had been installed with the future in mind. This particularly came to the forefront in Lighting Controls with
Presence Controls.

Further Installations included: Main Switchgear, Door Access
Systems & Intercom, Fire Alarm System, Intruder Alarm, CCTV, Lightning Protection, General Power, General Lighting & Emergency Lighting, ICT Installation, Stage Curtain and Stage Lighting.

The Installations and the individual areas/buildings were delivered on time and to budget through a robust programming strategy. Regular meetings were held to ensure that Cost Targets agreed were met and that the progression of works was as per the programme.

A quality installation was guaranteed to the client on this project as we had the opportunity of producing sample boards of Accessories/Fixtures & Fittings for them to decide, with our professional advice, what suited them best within the education environment.
